5 Weeks of #GivingTuesday – Week 1: Bringing Comfort

#Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday). It’s all about giving our time and some of our dollars to causes around the world, and at home.

Many of us have often found ourselves asking why we get up to be at a store at 3am only to witness aggression and worse over flat screen TVs, game consoles, shoes, or whatever the deal of the day might be. We all know that the holiday season means giving, which is why we hunt down those great deals!  We also strive to bring joy, and comfort to those we love.

Here at Toby’s Shower for Babies, comfort is one of the things we love to provide! These photos are from one of our families whose daughter Lillie was 8 weeks premature and needed several surgeries. Sam told us  that “the basket brightened up the hospital and made it feel more like home during a hard and scary time. It was nice to know that you had thought about all these families going through what you went through so they’re never alone.”

December 1st, 2015 is this season’s #GivingTuesday. We’re asking you to join us! We’ll be launching a $12 challenge. You read that right. $12. We’ll ask for your one time $12 donation and for you to ask 12 of your friends to donate the same. 2000 people is all it takes donating $12 for this charity to be half funded for 2016. Pretty simple, right?  It all takes place on #GivingTuesday. So mark your calendars to join us!

Along the way, we’ll continue sharing pictures and stories and even videos from families and nurses who let us know how much these baskets mean to them and how they’ve helped.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Team Toby Tolin and the Toby’s Shower for Babies projects. YOU are what makes this possible!
